The band, which emerged in 2005, has released two studio albums. In 2012, they released their debut effort, It’s Time, followed by Tastes Like L.A. in 2017. Being a phenomenal live band, Las Cafeteras notably released a live album in 2009 titled Live at Mucho Wednesdays.

The band comprises very talented musicians - singers and jarana players Daniel French and Denise Carlos, guitarist David Flores, percussionist and drummer Jose Cano, and vocalists Hector Flores and Leah Gallegos. Each member has a special role, and instruments vary from requinto, jarocho, jarana, glockenspiel, cajon, Native American flute, Quijada, and more.

Las Cafeteras’ original songs can have themes on civil rights, immigration reform, female homicides happening in Juarez, Mexico, and United Farm Workers, among others. The band also exudes Chicano pride, most evident in their single, “La Bamba Rebelde.” The single is a remake of the popular Mexican song titled “La Bamba.”
