Opera Omaha: Suor Angelica at Orpheum Theatre

The Suor Angelica is the upcoming groundbreaking project by Opera Omaha. The concert will present Giacomo Puccini’s one-act opera, which tells the story of Sister Angelica. After giving birth to a child out of wedlock, Angelica’s rich and powerful family forced her to give up her baby and join the convent. Puccini’s masterpiece perfectly captures the events, such as a mother’s love and the loss of a child.

For this profound and incredible performance, Opera Omaha brings the best creative team to lead this fantastic production. The orchestra will be led by conductor Judith Yan while acclaimed soprano Elaine Alvarez will lead the vocals. Moreover, the show brings in esteemed director Keturah Stickann. At the same time, the rest of the team will be joined by scenic designer S.A. Panfili, costume designer Betty Fredrickson, lighting designer J. Isadora Krech, and wig and makeup designer Ronell Oliveri.

An all-female cast will perform the opera with lead soprano Alvarez. She will be joined by equally fantastic performers Ronnita Miller, Deborah Nansteel, Kelly Guerra, Hilary Ginther, and Jennifer Cherest.
