and Juliet at Orpheum Theater in Omaha

“‘& Juliet’ brings a fresh and welcomed take on the age-old tale of the star-crossed lovers.” – BroadwayWorld

What if Anne Hathaway had a slightly bigger finger in the pie of the world’s greatest love story and tragedy than we thought – the star-crossed lovers did not die next to each other, because Juliet decided that being overprotected doesn’t work for her and chose life instead? What if William did not Shakespeare, and Anne ended up to Hath-her-way?

Now imagine this: a brand new Broadway smash-hit that oozes with all those questions and gives the answers as well; a larger than life production that is throwing shade on many established Broadway productions; a coming-of-age theatre experience that racks up the awards like mad; a knockout  that is sizzling with your favorite pop tunes – from I Want It That Way and …Baby One More Time to Teenage Dream and I Kissed a Girl, from It’s My Life and Love Me Like You Do to That’s The Way It Is and Roar…

And what if we told you that thát’s the way it is –  and that is exactly what you’re in for this season? That’s exactly it, Omaha – Swedish pop songwriter Max Martin and David West Read’s glitzy, glamoury, roar-ingly, gushingly fantastic musical & JULIET is coming to the Orpheum Theatre Omaha this season!

SYNOPSIS

William Shakespeare and his wife, Anne Hathaway, are having conversations about how his new play, Romeo & Juliet should end. And Anne Hathaway asks the question: what if Juliet decided to live the teenage dream instead?

After Juliet learns of Romeo’s multiple affairs at his funeral, and her parents find out about her forbidden relationship with the deceased young lover, they decide that a convent would be the perfect place for her. Instead of going to the convent, Juliet and her friends embark on a trip to France, where they meet Francois – a young man who finds himself attracted to Juliet. Francois proposes to her – and Shakespeare decides that this version of the tale needs a plot twist. Francois and May share a kiss – and Romeo returns, and confesses his love for Juliet.

Will Francois still marry Juliet in spite of kissing May? Will Romeo and Juliet get back together? Will this version of the tale work? Will there be happy endings?
