SYNOPSIS

What does an unlikely hero, an unscrupulous con man and a battle for the heart and soil of a small town have to do with each other?

Maizy and Beau are about to get married, but when the corn – a vital part of life in Cob County and ultimately, crucial to the town’s survival – starts withering, things get complicated. Maizy heads out to Tampa to seek assistance from a ‘corn-doctor’ – leaving Cob County for the very first time. Upon returning to Cob County alongside the corn-doctor, who also happens to be a con-man, things take an unexpected turn when Cob County realizes they have to trust this most untrustworthy man to save their town. 

Shucked is a “funky, rootsy” farm-to-fable showstopper stacked to the brim with humour – from corn-related puns to double entendres, and a message of hope and community at the cob of it. Shucked is a massive feel-good feast of corn and jokes that will have you giggling for long after the curtain has fallen!

HISTORY AND LEGACY

Shucked is the brainchild of writer Robert Horn, and is partially derived from his 2015 project, Moonshine: That Hee Haw Musical. With the assistance of songwriters Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally, Shucked was developed into something so unique, so truly American, that became an instant hit after its premiere in April 2023 at Broadway’s Nederlander Theatre. Being met with countless standing ovations and rave reviews all around, Shucked racked up a Tony Award among nine nominations, two Drama Desk Awards out of 12 nominations, two Outer Critics’ Circle Awards, a Grammy Award nomination, and also became a two-time honoree of the Theatre World Awards.
