The holiday season is nearing and with that, a series of The Nutcracker performances by the American Midwest Ballet is on its way! This Christmas, celebrate the joyous season with the most magical performance of the Nutcracker. American Midwest Ballet: The Nutcracker will be live at the Orpheum Theater - Omaha on Saturday, the 9th of December, 2023.
The well-loved story of The Nutcracker connects with all ages, and has turned into a Christmas tradition since it was first brought to the stage. Set to composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s most famous works, the timeless classic paired with marvelous talents will give an unforgettable performance. Gather all your loved ones and immerse yourselves in the magical world of The Nutcracker! The American Midwest Ballet is a dance company in Iowa. For 14 years, they have kept their annual tradition of performing The Nutcracker featuring local student dancers. The company said that their mission is to “inspire people through dance programs of the highest quality: breathtaking performances, enriching education, and uplifting community engagement.” The company believes that dance is for everyone, and so they have partnered with more than 100 schools and 30 community partners to bring the inspiration of dance to people from diverse backgrounds.
This holiday season, American Midwest Ballet is taking you to a magical world not too far away. It is about a little girl named Clara who is given a nutcracker, and the events that ensue. The voyage of the story begins with the gift, and the Nutcracker immediately becomes the center point. Some individuals believe that the Nutcracker is a symbol of strength; it is frequently used to represent someone who defends another.
The Nutcracker is a ballet whose music was written over a century ago by Russian composer Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky. He was a Romantic Period composer best remembered for his works The Nutcracker and Swan Lake. The Nutcracker was inspired by the German legend "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King."
Dawn Fisher from the Iowa Great Lakes spoke highly of AMB’s take on the Nutcracker and said, “It’s a magical show to attend and a beautiful opportunity for youth to dance alongside a professional ballet company. It is an experience they will remember forever. Even now, it’s still fun to hear the kids talk about ‘when I was an angel, an elf, or a soldier.’ It’s such a magical experience and the perfect family ballet.”
